Abstract

The objective of the research was to perform the analysis of flat reinforcement by applying the stiffness matrix method in a soft soil of low bearing capacity with SAP 2000 and Ftool software. It is argued by obtaining the displacements in the degrees of freedom (GDL) established in the Q-D system and the internal forces for each member composing the reinforcement. The reinforcement under study was composed of 4 bars with a cross section of 500 mm2, modulus of elasticity of 350 GPa and a settlement of 15 mm in the fixed support 1. The flat reinforcement presented as structural response displacements in GDL 3, 4, 6, 7, internal forces were produced in all the bars and displacements due to the effect of the settlement in the whole structure. It should be noted that the settlement in fixed support 1 due to soft soil generated greater deformation in the reinforcement than the applied loads. On the other hand, the structural responses calculated manually were equal to those obtained with SAP2000 and Ftool software, which shows that the matrix method is accurate in its results.
