Financing for the production and marketing of coffee in the province of Leoncio Prado, Huánuco (Peru) during the Covid-19 pandemic

Abstract

The objective of the research work is to know the financing in the production and commercialization of coffee in the province of Leoncio Prado, Pasco in central Peru. The method, 107 farmers who have coffee plantations in production were selected, the study period was the 2020 -2021 agricultural campaign during the COVID-19 pandemic. The information was obtained through the techniques of surveys and questionnaires for data processing. The results show that 51% of the farmers do not receive any type of financing, the State through the Agrobank finances 40% and the Savings and Credit Cooperatives finance 6%. The commercialization of coffee beans is carried out in the locality, 10% is for private intermediaries; 38% to the Agricultural Cooperatives and 51% to both parties. At the province level, small producers have an agricultural plot of 2.77 hectares/farmer on average and sell 14.70 quintals/average farmer per campaign once a year. conclusions. Only 3% of farmers received financing from the banking sector, while the vast majority finance their production with their own capital.
